Our plan for a better digital future
During the initial phase of this journey, we will address urgent priorities including cybersecurity, privacy, technology foundations and governance, and delivering a better experience for our students.
The Â鶹´«Ã½AV National University (ANU) has a plan to transform our digital experience, to improve services for our students and staff and the wider community.
The has been developed following an extensive consultation process with staff and students over 18 months.
The Plan, which outlines the University's , is our high-level roadmap for the evolution of our digital environment and is an important part of the ANU 2025 Strategic Plan.
"During the initial phase of this journey, we will address urgent priorities including cybersecurity, privacy, technology foundations and governance, and delivering a better experience for our students," Professor Schmidt said.
"Our students and staff expect to interact with online services intuitively, safely and with minimal effort. We have listened to their feedback, which has shaped this Plan."
As part of this transformation, the entirety of the ANU community will need to be regularly updating their digital skills and we will need to ensure that all of our systems are secure by design, Professor Schmidt said.
"Ultimately, we will study, work and think differently to the way we do today," he said.
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education & Digital) Professor Maryanne Dever said consultation workshops held last year highlighted a need for students to have a single point of entry for all information from the University.
"These consultations identified the need to create a seamless blend of on-campus and online learning that enables easier and consistent connectivity with teachers and peers," Professor Dever said.
"The next step for our work on the student experience is to select a partner by the end of October, to begin a review of all the work that has been done on the student journey at ANU and to work with us to build the plan for our students' digital future.
"I think this is an incredibly exciting digital change program that's going to inspire our students and staff."
The University's new Chief Information Officer Jonathan Churchill said the future digital environment will seamlessly extend the on-campus experience.
"Our digital future will provide a personalised experience where services are co-designed and tested with people who use them," Mr Churchill said.
"Through proper investment in the University's people, enhancing digital literacy and introducing new ways of working along with technology, we will create a culture of data-driven, informed insights and decision making."
Everyone in our community will play an important role in creating our digital future, Mr Churchill said.
"This transformation will be iterative and incremental," he said.
"Fully realising the Digital Master Plan will take time, and we'll be confronted with challenges along the way. But we are committed to ensuring this vital work is successful, guided by best-practice contemporary thinking and transforms the digital experience of our students and staff."
