ANU has ranked 30th in the , confirming the University’s place among the best in the world. Among Â鶹´«Ã½AV universities ANU is ranked fourth.

ANU has improved in six of the nine indicators evaluated by the higher education analytics firm. This includes improvements in international research collaboration, employment outcomes, sustainability and reputation among employers. 

It wasn’t just the overall rankings where ANU hit the top 30. ANU recorded a significant increase in sustainability rankings — from outside the top 100 up to 30th worldwide. ANU is one of the few universities across the globe to set itself ambitious targets to reach below zero emissions.

Several distinguished members of our ANU community have been named in this year's King’s Birthday Honours list. ANU Council member Alison Kitchen has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her service to business, government roles and the community. 

Trailblazers in Asian studies were also celebrated with Yohanni Bey Johns, a long-time lecturer in Indonesian studies, awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her significant contributions to Indonesian teaching in Australia. 

ANU graduate and newly appointed Governor-General Samantha Mostyn added Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) to her already long list of achievements for leading change in areas such as gender equity. While Dr Stephanie Davis was acknowledged with a Public Service Medal for her exceptional dedication and response during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For many students, the concept of university brings to mind thoughts of textbooks, lecture halls and classrooms. However, there is one very special subject at ANU that is ditching educational norms and pioneering Indigenous led, on Country, justice education in a tertiary setting.   

The in conjunction with the and the Oonchiumpa Consultancy Services have developed a course based on the practice of deep listening as a powerful education tool with the potential to transform legal education and understandings of justice.   

Law students spend a weeklong intensive on the country visiting courtrooms, sleeping in swags underneath the stars and most importantly listening deeply to the perspectives of Traditional Owners, Elders, Aboriginal lawyers, educators, interpreters and justice leaders.

Enjoy the report launch with an informative panel discussion with lead author PhD student Ruby Olsson, Senator David Pocock., Professor Adrienne Nicotra and Associate Professor Richard Swain.

The is hosting a two-day symposium in honour of its . This symposium will explore a wide array of topics, including, order, ethics, diplomacy, history and peace and conflict. These topics will be dissected through interactive dialogues, with an eye towards future directions in scholarship shaping discipline.

The ANU MakerSpace will be running two drop-in sessions for ANU students to help you get through the exam period. On Thursday 13 June, create your very own acrylic key tag using a high-powered laser beam and take home a personalised key tag. On Friday 14 June drop into the mend, cut, sew workshop to learn tips and tricks to repairing your clothing.

Applications are now open for the John Monash Scholarships, which have been running for 20 years. They are proudly supported by Â鶹´«Ã½AVs for Â鶹´«Ã½AVs. Funders include governments, companies, trusts and foundations and individuals. This year, successful John Monash Scholars – who can be of any age, study any discipline and choose to study anywhere in the world – will receive $80,000 for each year of scholarship:

- $80,000 for a one-year Master’s.

- $160,000 for a two-year Master’s.

- $240,000 for a PhD.

2025 John Monash Scholarships applications close July 1 2024 at 5pm AEST.

At the end of every teaching session, the University invites students to provide feedback on courses studied through the Student Experience of Learning and Teaching (SELT) survey. This survey asks for feedback about your classes and teachers during Semester 1.

Be sure to leave constructive feedback. Whether your learning experience was positive or negative, your responses can be used to enhance or improve ANU courses and teaching.

To participate please check your university email account for an invitation and click on the link in the email to directly access a survey form. You can also check the 'Evaluations (SELT)' block in Wattle for links to your surveys. This can be found at the bottom of the Wattle homepage after signing in.

Survey closes Sunday 16 June. 

The new Rights, Relationships and Respect in Research program is live for HDR candidates and their supervisors. The online learning module will introduce you to core concepts relating to respectful relationships and sexual consent, as well as important information about ANU care and support services. 

The course is also a qualifying registration renewal activity for HDR supervisors.
