The pollution crisis
Presented by ANU College of Law, Governance & Policy
Exploring the limitations of current pollution management strategies and highlighting the need for more comprehensive, innovative approaches to safeguard environmental and human health.
Pollution is one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, yet significant blind spots persist in how we assess and manage it. Despite remarkable scientific advancements, limitations in regulation, policy, and conventional assessment methods hinder effective solutions. Traditional approaches, which focus on laboratory analyses of specific chemicals, often fail to capture the full complexity of contamination, leaving critical gaps in our understanding and response. As pollution continues to escalate, regulators and society struggle to keep pace with its scale and impact. This talk explores the limitations of current pollution management strategies and highlights the need for more comprehensive, innovative approaches to safeguard environmental and human health.
