ANU Film Group Returns – Free Screening Week
After a nine-month intermission caused by the closure of the Kambri Cultural Centre, the ANU Film Group is back! Join us in celebrating the return of Australia's biggest film society with an entire week of free screenings, including such recent hits as Wicked, Better Man, Heretic and more!
All seven films screening between February 10 to 15 will be open and free for all to attend – no membership or registration required. Doors will open 30 minutes before the scheduled start time, with entry on a first in, best dressed basis until all 305 seats in the cinema are taken.
MON 10 FEB, 7:30 PM: BETTER MAN (MA, 135 MIN)
British pop superstar Robbie Williams tells his warts-and-all life story – from his working class childhood to confronting the pressures of fame – all while depicted on-screen as a CGI chimpanzee, in this unconventional musical biopic.
TUE 11 FEB, 7:30 PM: INSIDE OUT 2 (PG, 96 MIN)
As teen Riley begins navigating puberty, the emotions living inside her mind – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust – find their world upended by the arrival of new feelings. Presented in partnership with the ANU Students' Association (ANUSA).
WED 12 FEB, 7:30 PM: WICKED (PG, 160 MIN)
Two very different young women – green-skinned Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and aristocrat Galinda (Ariana Grande) – form an unlikely friendship in this hit musical adaptation. Presented in partnership with ANUSA.
THU 13 FEB, 7:30 PM: HERETIC (MA, 112 MIN)
Two young Mormon missionaries visit the home of a reclusive man (Hugh Grant) in an attempt to convert him, but soon realise that he is more dangerous than he seems when they become ensnared in a deadly game to prove their faith.
FRI 14 FEB, 7:30 PM: NOSFERATU (M, 132 MIN)
In the 1830s, a haunted young woman (Lily-Rose Depp) discovers that the enigmatic Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård) has become obsessively infatuated with her. Presented in partnership with ANUSA.
SAT 15 FEB, 5 PM: MY OLD ASS (MA, 89 mins)
During a psychedelic drug trip on her 18th birthday, a free-spirited teen unexpectedly comes face-to-face with her 39-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza), forcing her to rethink her life choices in this coming-of-age comedy.
SAT 15 FEB, 7:30 PM: FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA (MA, 148 mins)
Return to the dystopian world of Mad Max for this epic prequel in which a young Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) is stolen from her home and caught in a ruthless warlord's (Chris Hemsworth) chaotic battle for dominance of the Wasteland.
